Verdemar is a rural B&B in southern Portugal, lovingly restored in the Alentejan style. It offers rooms, suites, and holiday homes set on a sprawling property with fruit and olive trees. Tucked away in the magical landscape of Alentejo, near Cercal do Alentejo and its ancient cork oaks in Casas Novas, Verdemar is just 6 km from Cercal.

The rooms are located around the main house, each with a private entrance from the garden.

The holiday homes are detached, each with its unique charm. Verdemar is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway, a family-friendly escape, or an intimate vacation in Portugal.

A haven of peace, only interrupted by the chirping of birds and the braying of a donkey.

Verdemar has 7 rooms, with fresh breakfast buffet service included. The rooms are little cottages with private entrance from the garden\terrace, each with its own unique character, colors and size. . They all have AC (except nº2 which has a fan), TV, coffeemaker & private bathroom with shower. Room nº 6 is quadruple room (4 pax) with its own outdoor kitchenette.

Had a wonderfull stay here! Christine is very hospitable and Tomas and Daurte told us about the history of Verdemar which is their family business. Duarte cooked the best dinners for us! His food is locally sourced and truly outstanding! The rooms are clean and the area is super relaxing. The donkey Julio greeted us every morning. 5 stars!

wat een geweldige bnb! elke dag een heerlijke 3 gangen menu aan een lange tafel met deze warme en lieve familie. de sfeer is heerlijk ongedwongen. prachtige strandjes dichtbij, je kan paardrijden, wijn proeven maar vooral gewoon heel lekker chillen en vers eten. top top top! ik zou het echt iedereen aanraden om hier te verblijven, zelf kom ik heel snel terug! thanks dua, christine en tomas.

Petit havre de paix au calme au milieu des champs. L'accueil est très sympathique et prévenant. La cuisine faites par le chef est absolument succulente.Les petits déjeuners sont royaux.Les ingrédients viennent de leur jardin.Il y a même des poules que mon fils a pu nourrir. Chambres climatisées et literie ultra confortable. Les équipements : piscine, mini terrain de foot, baby foot ping pong , jeux de société divers font la joie des enfants et des parents.Nous sommes enchantés par ce lieu .Vraiment parfait rien à dire, nous recommandons absolument.

Fantastisch verblijf gehad! Het is er heerlijk rustig, in een prachtige omgeving. Fijn om te wandelen, naar het strand te gaan, maar ook lekker te luieren bij het zwembad of het huis. De familie is heel warm en hartelijk, en er heerst een fijne ongedwongen sfeer, ook met andere gasten. Hoogtepunt is ook zeker de 3-gangen maaltijden in de avond: elke avond zo lekker gegeten, vers en met liefde gemaakt. Als vegetariër ook heel fijn, want dat kan in Portugal wel een uitdaging zijn (maar in Verdemar geen enkel probleem!). Wij wilden geen avond overslaan, dus zaten elke avond trouw aan tafel 😉 Wij verbleven in de “Love Shack”, een fijn hutje, waar je nog meer het gevoel hebt midden in de natuur te zitten, heel bijzonder. Al met al, een dikke aanrader! Het was echt jammer om weg te gaan, want ik voelde mij al helemaal thuis 🙂

Un lugar verdaderamente especial, rodeado de naturaleza en pleno corazón del Alentejo. La familia Labreiro te recibe con una calidez entrañable que hace que te sientas como en casa desde el primer momento. Las cenas son buenísimas, elaboradas con mimo y productos locales, y el servicio destaca por ser exclusivo, atento y desenfrenado. El sitio perfecto para desconectar y disfrutar de unos días de paz y autenticidad. 100% recomendable!!

What an incredible place to unwind and reconnect with your surroundings. The rooms are comfortable and well-decorated, the pool delightfully refreshing, and the grounds are immaculate with plenty of little spots to relax. The care taken on this family owned and operated property is evident everywhere. The dining area/communal space is perfect for an evening cocktail, but a true highlight for me was the FOOD! Oh my goodness honestly some of the best meals I’ve had in my life. Thank you Christine, Nuno, Duarte, and Tomas for an unforgettable stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at Verdemar, especially because it is rural area which helps to unwind and at the same time having Milfontes and the beach close by. Also, the hosts are a terrific family that run the business with passion. Highly Recommended!!

Wij (stel van 29 en 36) hebben een heel fijne tijd gehad op Verdemar. Je komt daadwerkelijk in een oase van rust terecht waar niets moet. Onze kamer was ruimer dan van tevoren gedacht en de aankleding (prachtige schilderijen aan de wand) is erg mooi. Het team van Verdemar is erg vriendelijk en servicegericht met een persoonlijke touch. Het eten is daadwerkelijk fantastisch! Iedere avond was het weer genieten van een heerlijk 3-gangen diner bestaande uit smaakvolle familiegerechten met o.a. groente en kruiden uit hun eigen moestuin. De omgeving is prachtig en kenmerkt zich door kilometers lange velden met kurkeiken. Bergen en heuvels zorgen voor adembenemend uitzicht op sommige plekken. Is zijn genoeg dorpjes in de buurt waar je boodschappen kan doen en kunt gaan lunchen. De kustplaatsen in de buurt zijn prachtig en compleet anders dan in Nederland (rotsachtige wilde stranden). Al met al een absolute aanrader!

We zijn met z’n tweeën een week op pad geweest in Alentejo en toen verbleven we in het prachtige Verdemar. Heerlijke rust en mooie omgeving, maar wel in de buurt van de twee dorpjes Cercal en Milfontes, die je gemakkelijk met de auto kan bereiken. Verdemar is van een warme en gastvrije familie, die voor je klaar staat tijdens je verblijf en ze hebben veel leuke tips over de mooie en ook niet al te toeristische plekjes die je in de buurt kan bezoeken. Als je van surfen houdt, heb je met 20 min rijden veel verschillende stranden die daar perfect voor zijn. Je kan je er vermaken als gezin, maar ook als klein of groter reisgezelschap. Er zijn allerlei verschillende kamers en huisjes met faciliteiten en het is netjes en schoon. Wij hebben genoten en komen zeker terug!

After long years spent working as a chef in the bustling city of Amsterdam, with its great variety of fancy cuisine, Nuno has opted for the peace of the countryside and the simplicity of rural fare – natural products, fresh fish, local meat, and vegetables from our garden.

His son, Duarte, followed in the same footsteps, having worked in some of Amsterdam’s best restaurants (Scheepskameel, Toscanini etc.). He now brings a modern & innovative twist to our beloved classics that so many keep coming back for.

Location

Pool, hiking, relaxing, family

A short drive from the Atlantic beaches (20 min), Verdemar is located just outside the coastal area which gets increasingly busy in high season, allowing you to escape the crowds.

In the opposite direction you will find the vast and scarcely populated Alentejo countryside, perfect for day trips or hiking. If you are so inclined, this location allows for a variety of activities. Doing nothing is also a popular pastime!

At Verdemar there is a private swimming pool, library, table tennis table, table football, board games, written information, maps, and a book with descriptions of walks and tours by foot, bicycle or car.

For children there is a tree house, swing, football pitch, animals, and lots of nature to explore.

Surfing lessons can be followed at the beach with our partner school.

Location

Pool, hiking, relaxing, family

A short drive from the Atlantic beaches (20 min), Verdemar is located just outside the coastal area which gets increasingly busy in high season, allowing you to escape the crowds.

In the opposite direction you will find the vast and scarcely populated Alentejo countryside, perfect for day trips or hiking. If you are so inclined, this location allows for a variety of activities. Doing nothing is also a popular pastime!

At Verdemar there is a private swimming pool, library, table tennis table, table football, board games, written information, maps, and a book with descriptions of walks and tours by foot, bicycle or car.

For children there is a tree house, swing, football pitch, animals, and lots of nature to explore.

Surfing lessons can be followed at the beach with our partner school.
